UAE’s revised visa policies: How they would help travellers and job seekers

Tourists will now be able to enter and stay in the UAE legally for 60 days, an extension from the previous 30 days; according to the new tourist visa rules. A sponsor or host is not necessary for the work exploration visa, which aims to make it simple for talented professionals to find employment in the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) first announced the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Advanced Visa System last month which is in effect from October 3, 2022.

Investors, business owners, founders of start-ups, remarkable talent, scientists, professionals in a variety of areas, outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, pioneers in humanitarian work, and frontline heroes are among those who will be given long-term visas.

According to Major General Sultan Yousef Al Nuaimi, the Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, the updated visa system aims to “improve the quality of life and make the experience of living, working, and investing in the UAE a pleasant and happy one.” This is in addition to easing burdens on foreigners and streamlining visa procedures.

The advantages of Golden Visas and long-term visas will also apply to members of the immediate family. The age at which a child may be sponsored by the holder of a Golden Visa or Green Residence visa has been raised from 18 to 25, and there is no age restriction for unmarried daughters. No matter their age, children of determination will be given a residency permit.

With the introduction of the UAE Golden Visa residency programme in 2019, foreigners are now able to live, work, and study in the UAE without the need for a national sponsor and with full ownership of their company on the country’s mainland.

With the revised regulations, it is now easier to qualify for 10-year visas because more people from a wider range of vocations will be able to apply for the Golden Visa.

The old two-year version of the UAE Green Residence visa has been replaced by a five-year option that targets outstanding talent, highly qualified professionals, freelancers, residents who are self-employed, investors, and business owners.

The UAE Cabinet has approved a series of new entrance permits and visas that, for the first time, do not require a host or sponsor to benefit visitors, tourists, and job seekers.
